Henry Albert Randel (b. 5/18/1829, Stuben Co., NY, d. 1852, Placerville, CA) went to California to participate in the great California gold rush. He died in Placerville of "consumption."
Henry was married twice, it seems - first to Mary Lydia Mills, and then to a woman whose name I have not yet found.

George first married Susan Armstrong who died in 1856 in Atchison, KS.
Excerpt from "Old Settlers Tales," by Fred Crevecour:
"George Randall's wife died the same summer she moved here.
"
Crevecour also notes that the site that was to become America City was arrived upon on May 25, 1856. So Susan died sometime in the summer of 1856, shortly after their arrival. Susan died during childbirth - that is probably why she was in Atchison (to deliver with medical assistance)? She and the baby were the first grave in the America City Cemetery. Had this child lived, it would have marked the first non-native born in the Kansas territory (see "Old Settlers Tales").
Susan's parents (James & Nancy Armstrong) and siblings (Harve, Martha, & Mary) were also among the original settlement party.

James H. Randel married twice:

Clara Eliza
b. 7/6/1863

b. 9/6/1865

Adda Bell
b. 12/5/1867

  Katie Emma b. 3/6/1870
  Effie Harriet b. 1/26/1873
Charilla Jane Medcalf Strong (10/12/1841-5/16/1923) (m. 1884)
? I found no information about Charilla & James' children - only that they had 8.
This is suspicious, as Charilla would have been 43 yrs. old when they were married. Perhaps the # referred to were Charilla's from a previous marriage.
