Here's what happened: A good friend of ours from Chicago, Sarah Condry, asked us if it would be alright if she had a fund raiser in honor of Morgan. She would walk the Chicago Marathon, she said - 26.2 miles - and look for sponsors to contribute based on the number of miles she completed. For many weeks, she trained - with a friend, Danielle Siebert. Danielle knew Morgan's story and decide that she, too, would look for sponsors. The only thing Sarah asked was that we consider using the proceeds on something special for Morgan. We thought how nice it would be to have a few extra dollars to buy just the right Halloween costume, to enroll Morgan in a music class, or to go to the ballet. We definitely underestimated Sarah and Danielle. The two of them finished the marathon in a little over 6 hours... Together they raised almost $3400. Words fail us in trying to express our thanks to these special ladies! Words like "great" and "inspirational" have been hijacked and used, too often, to describe things neither great nor inspirational. But, short of inventing new words, that's what we're left with. You are great and you are inspirational. Thank you so much, Sarah & Danielle and to all the people - most of whom we have never met - who found it in their hearts to reach out to our family. My your lives be blessed ten-fold for your kindness. from Tony Laurie Morgan Marlee Update: additional contributions have brought the amount raised by our "Angels of the Chicago Marathon" to over $4000. ---------------------------------------------- I expect to pass throught this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. ~ William Penn ~ ----------------------------------------------
